Alexander Isak has signed for Newcastle United for 70 million euros
History
The Beginnings
The Swedish international made his debut for AIK in the Swedish League and scored his first goal at the age of 16 in a cup tie against a fourth-tier side in the
Swedish Cup. He then became the youngest striker to score in the Swedish League by scoring against
Ostersunds FK. Isak was 16 years old and 199 days when he scored his first league goal.
BVB and loans
Alexander Isak or the New Zlatan Ibrahimović as his teammates used to call him signed for BVB for 9 million pounds becoming the most expensive sell in the Swedish League history. Isak played only 13 games for the first Borussia Dortmund team and then was loaned to Willem II where he became the first foreign player to score 12 goals in his first 12 games.
Real Sociedad and The Swedish National Team
Isak moved to Real Sociedad and played three seasons with The Blues and Whites. He scored 44 goals in 132 apps and won the Spanish Cup against local rivals Athletic Bilbao in 2020.
For Sweden, Isak played 37 games in total and scored 9 goals. One of them was against Spain in the 2022 World Cup Qualification which they failed to qualify for. He also became the youngest Swedish player to score for his national team after scoring against Slovakia in 2017.
Isak Player Profile
Alexander Isak signing for 70 million seems to create controversy due to the fact. He only scored 6 goals last season in La Liga. He ranked in the bottom 19 percentile in Non-Penalty Goals. However, his non-penalty expected goals put him in the top 77 percent which means that he underperformed his xG by a lot last season.
Another point of concern is the dribbles completed as he ranks in the bottom 36 percentile. The reason behind this ranking is that Isak attempts to dribble past the opposition players a lot. He ranks in the top 4% of players dribbled in the Top Five Leagues.

Isak Career Shots and Goals
Alexander Isak had a total of 206 shots in his career and a cumulative xG of 36.872. With 0.179 xG per shot, Isak managed to convert 32 goals out of the 36.872 xGcum. Alexander Isak is mainly right-footed scoring 19 goals using his right foot and scoring 10 with his left foot. Isak is not the best in the air as he just scored 3 goals using his head
Conclusion
Alexander Isak had a really good start to the season and has a high ceiling. Although scoring only 6 goals is a warning sign, I still think he can provide Newcastle with enough goals to keep them in the battle for a Top 10 finish.
